What is a database?
A database is a system designed to gather, organize, and process information. Once information is entered into it, a database can manipulate the information in ways that will allow you to analyze the data. Usually databases are thought of in relation to software programs and computers, but there can actually be many different types. Library card catalogs, dictionaries, or telephone books are also forms of databases.
