  A photograph of the Holiday Tree on the West Lawn of the United States Capitol. This photograph captured in December, 1999 was taken by Jim Epler during the Christmas Season in Washington, DC at the base of the Capitol Holiday Tree on the west lawn of the U.S. Capital. It is cataloged under the terms holiday, cities, architecture, landmarks, night scenes and seasonal scenes in this photography database.

  The image was exposed on 35mm Kodak Tri-X 400 black & white film stock using a Pentax Asahi Spotmatic II camera with a Asahi Pentax 28mm f/3.5 lens.

Photographer Comments: I expanded my tripod as far as it would go to position my camera as close to the ground as possible to gain the perspective shown in this photograph. Unfortunately, the negative for this photo was severely damaged so I had to do quite a bit of post process work in Photoshop to get it to a state that I consider marginally acceptable (at best).
